"The shoulder strap padding is to short. Digs into my chest. Other than that it seems to be an ok pack."

"This is a good sevicable internal frame pack. It carries 4500 c.i., in 1 main pocket. Also there are 3 other pockets 1 on each side and one in the front.
The padding and strapping are generous and comfortable. I am 5'4" and had no difficulty adjusting this pack to my body. 1 small criticism: Like all internal frame packs, your back will sweat. Other than that, this is a strong, servicable pack."

"After having a Moraine, and it not fit my small 14.5 in. torso, I was elated when I discovered the Coyote would fit me. And boy does it ever! I was able to fit all my gear in it, and even had room for my water bladder in the center. I highly recommend this pack for anyone just starting out, having a hard time finding a pack that will fit, and is looking for something with a good deal of room/space. This pack adjusts to a torso size as small as 13 inches. Great for kids as well as adults!"

"I used this pack for my first backpacking trip in the Washington Cascades and I loved it. Make sure you pack your gear well, if you put all the heavy stuff on the exterior section then you have laws of physics working against you. I love the pack though."

"I bought this backpack for general day hikes as well as week long trips. I love it. I have a large torso, and this pack still works well for me. It carries all of my gear. I can fit my tent, stove, pots and pans, food, clothes, and fishing gear in the main pocket. Then, all of the other smaller camping accessories fit nicely in the remaining 3 pockets. The only bad thing I have to say about this pack, is my back sweats. Thats pretty much it. But, as a 17 year old male, that is bound to happen!!"

"My son, only 9, got this back and it fits him perfectly, due to complete adjustability within its torso length range. Well made, roomy, with a good suspension system. He loves the removable fanny pack lid. The first time he put his bladder in the internal pocket, he didn't have it sealed correctly and 1/3 of it emptied. Guess what? It all stayed in that pocket and nothing else got wet. I simply emptied the pack, turned it over and dumped out nearly a liter of water, wiped out the pocket and he was good to go. Pros: see above. Cons: no seperate sleeping bag compartment; so roomy a child could over-pack it (only a con for kids!)"

"I bought this pack to hike the Long Trail in Vermont this fall. The overall design is great, and it is very comfortable. I am 5'10" tall, and fat with a 42 inch waist. The only drawback to the pack is the fabric does not seem as abrasion resistant as the cloth on my other packs. ( all Kelty's)Within the first week of use, any item in it that was hard rubbed a hole through the cloth. specifically, nalgene bottles and a lexan box. This might be and most likely is due to overpacking. I plan on using the coyote for training and testing the other gear I will take, and at this point I suspect I will probably buy a new coyote for the trail, as it is one of the best thought out designs for my needs. Any problems with the pack are more my fault that the packs material or design."

"this is an awesome internal frame pack. I use it all time in the BSA. I definitely used the extending frame feature as i grew a foot since i first got it."

"I and 3 friends bought the Kelty Coyote backcountry backpack last year when it was on sale at REI. We were all buying the backpack for a 10-mile hike into Havasupai in Arizona.
After the hike, we all ended up returning the backpack. We were all different shapes and sizes, but the pack did not fit any of us, despite adjusting the shoulder straps, the and waist belt. For me, the shoulder straps were too short and the buckle jutted into my underarms. I have a long torso and just was not able to adjust the suspension enough. The body of the pack just seems too long to fit any body. No matter how many adjustments we made, the pack always sat in the middle of our butts, hence putting all of the weight on our shoulders. Yeah, you can fit a lot of stuff in the pack and all of the pockets and zippers make the pack convenient and easy, but, the fit of the pack just isn't planned right. I wouldn't recommend this backpack. It was a rude awakening for all of us even less than a mile into the hike."

"This is backpack was my first backpack. It's pretty decent, yet theres only one entry point to the main pocket. This is especially annoying when your expected to get packed up in the morning in 30 minutes. The construction is pretty strong yet don't expect to be able to slide anything between the main part of the backpack and the side pockets. Also the top converts to a fanny pack, which is petty good. It's only missing padding for it and a water bottle holder.
It carries about 45 lbs. of weight pretty comfortablely, Anymore than that is just awkward."
