Sierra Designs Lookout 2.0 CD Review

"I was sold on this tent for the hole in the roof---seemed like a cool thing to have. Use it on several extended trips, and have the following opinions to post: The hole in the roof is ok, but really no bid deal. The only time I've made use of it is in the backyard to when I aired the tent out. A superfluous feature, and it adds some weight, but it's there, so I live with it. setting the tent up is sometimes a chore, especially in the wind. The clip system at first seems to be easy, but pole sleeves seem a little easier in the rain. I do appreciate the dual doors, no climbing over your partner to get up to pee. There is plently of room for two people and a dog, or two people and both packs if you plan it right. Most of the poles have bent, whether under wind strain or setting it up too fast, I'm not sure. It's a bit heavy, but offers a lot of space for the weight. Divided up between two people, it scores ok. All in all, a decent tent for over 350 bucks. Well ventilated, sturdy, roomy, but not a quick pitch proposition, and a bear to set up in the dark."

"Exceptional, Rock solid all season tent handles wind, rain, cold no problem. I have never seen a drop of water in the tent considering the adverse weather it has seen. Very easy to set up once you are practiced. Skylight is nice to have. It adds natural light to the inside of the tent and you can gaze at stars if its nice out. I have found very few weaknesses if any with this tent after 3 years of solid use. The weight is a bit heavy but you know your tent will withstand any weaather that comes and that brings piece of mind when travelling in the backcountry when you dont have to worry about your shelter..."
