"I loved the immediate good fit & feel of these boots, and did some heavy backpacking in them, over ice, snow and sharp rock. They held up well, but when I put them on this year both soles crumbled and the tread separated. I was very disappointed."

"I have size 14 feet, and compared these to L.L. Bean Cresta GTX boots. Both were VERY close in comfort, traction, and support, but I thought the Vasque might be more durable. I was wrong, the sole separated from the uppers, I am finding this is not uncommon. I have had them repaired 3 times, the problem appears to be the mid-sole crumbles, and you cannot replace just the mid-sole. I have had these 7 (??) years, so I don't think it is worth replacing the whole sole for 2/3 the cost of the boot. Too bad, the leather and soles are in decent shape, they could have lasted a lot longer. I have older boots, with greater wear, that are still in one piece. Still, they were great boots while they lasted, supportive, comfortable, and sure-footed. A bit heavy, but you NEED that for heavy packs/rocky trails."

"I had similar problesm awith the soles. I sent Vasque customer service a photo, they sent me an authorization to send them to their cobbler and the boots were repaired at no cost. They are as good as new. Thanks Vasque.
P.S. The Clarions I bought in 1999 are still going strong after well over 500 miles of treks with scouts, family and hunting."
