Vasque Clarion Impact Review

"After a break-in period of about 50 miles, I still had blisters & hot spots on my heels. I liked the boots, but returned them for a store credit at REI; they just didn't work out for me. I tried a special boot insert and socks, but still experienced problems. REI informed me that Vasque boots are larger volume boots (for larger feet). Maybe they'll work for you...I'll keep lookin'."

"I love these boots. I have owned them for 2 years now and as long as you treat them rightthey will treat you the same. They take a while to break in but it is well worth the blisters once the boots are one with your feet. just make sure to strip out the old treatment ( I like sno seal) with a conditioner before you retreat. These boots will last you for years and Vasque resoles thier boots for 50 dollars."

"I am just retiring a pair of Vasques Clarion Impacts after 4 years of fairly agressive hiking (lots of scrambling, shale, snow and ice). Overall they have been the best boots I have had. The general support of the boot has not broken down, great fit since day one, high quality leather and descent tread. The only complaints I have are I get a lot of debris in the top; the stitching starting giving away along the top and I would like a little lighter boot."

"I bought these boots with lesss than two weeks before I went on a 85 mile trek. They broke in fast, have held up on two other longer treks and are my primary boots. I was forced to buy these boots with little or no time for break in when my Vasque Super hikers soles blew out after less than 300 miles of use. To the credit of the Vasque, I returned the Super hikers, they replaced with Super Hiker II's and are now my back up hiking boots. "I bought my Vasque Clarion's about a decade ago, and love them. I have a wide foot and high arch, and they served me extremely well. In fact, I just ordered a new pair - which is the ultimate positive review (this time the Clarion GTXs).

The boots accompanied me on three years of around-the-world travels, have survived two long treks in Nepal, the basecamp of Everist, construction jobs, and dozens of other adventures in the US and abroad.

I regularly treated the boots, but over the past few years they became less waterproof. They have always been very comfortable, and provided me great ankle support.

Wonderful boots must eventually be retired - and now alas is the time. I have been absolutely satisfied with these great boots!"
