"Forget about those dreadful blisters, the Newbriers take little time
to break in and they never leave my feet sore. I have tried several
mid-wieght boots in the past and none compare. The only
recomendation I have for Vasque is upgrading the soles to
Vibram, the NC shale boulders tend to take thier toll after
extensive use. However, Vasque says that's on their primary
agenda."
"A great mid-weight boot. Same as the Sundowner, but in nubruck.
I purchased a pair last year in June when my heavy winter boots
were in for repair. Hiked to the top of a local mountain - 5100 ft,
about 16 miles return. Elevation gain about 4500', half the trip in
snow. My Newbriers stayed dry and I had NO blisters. Not bad
for a first hike with NO boot break in! Used them on several
backpack trips in summer with a 50 lb pack. Again no problems,
feet stayed dry and reasonably comfortable. I would buy another
pair, or a pair of the Sundowners (same boot) when next on sale!"
"I have had these boots for 6 years now. I had the all of one month when
I wore them to Phimont Scout Ranch. needless to say I came through a 100 mile hike over 12 days without a single problem. To this day I tell everyone how great a boot they are."
