"If you are a bootfitter's nightmare as I am, the Newbrier might be your salvation. My feet are wide across the toes with the second toe slightly longer than the big toe, high in the arch, and narrow at the heel. Boots aren't made for feet like mine -- then along came the Newbriers! Although I normally wear size 8 shoe and size 9 boots, I purchased my boots in size 9 1/2 to more comfortably accommodate my toes and thick socks. I was experiencing a tad bit of heel slip, but with a liner sock under a thick pair of Thorlos and a little creative lacing, the problem has been solved. In every other boot I've ever worn, my feet felt as though they were in a vice and my high arches would ache after about thirty minutes on the trail. With the Newbriers I've not had such problems. The toe box is roomy and doesn't cause my feet to feel squeezed. The Newbrier gives adequate ankle support without the stiffness of many other boots. I removed the insole and added a pair of Spencos for a more cushy step -- these also give my high instep added support and absorbs a lot of shock. Since I purchased my Newbriers, I have not experienced any measurable amount of ankle fatigue nor throbbing toes and aching arches. They may seem a little pricey compared to many of the other offerings at your outfitters, but their comfort is worth every cent. Try 'em, you'll love 'em!"
