"The new 535 is much like the old one but with a more tread friendly Vibram sole and neat new yellow Asolo logo. They have 2.6mm of leather which is very supportive and plenty thick to keep you dry. I've put some Nikwax Nubuck waterbased wax and I've stood in streams bone dry. They have tremendous ankle support for those who twist easily (like me). They have a narrow heel cup that prevents slippage and a generous amount of toe spave for at least a D-E with person. I did need to add some extra arch support but those more flat foot will appreciate them. These can be used for a strong day hike to an extended 2 week or so trip. This classic design is a winner."

"These boots are great! I've had them for 4 years and have hiked hard the past two years and did a 14-er during the summer. The boot is stiff, secure and comfortable. it does get a little warm in the heat but just remove it for a few minutes and it does the trick. The break in period was a little lengthy but worth it. I don't know how many times i've struck rock head on with these boots and they still endure. I've worn them through the winter storms here in Colorado and my feet stay warm and dry. I would definitely buy another pair."

"Got these just a few weeks ago, apparently from a factory closeout/reseller type place. They are new "old" stock from several years ago. I have done several short hikes in them and although I agree that the break-in period is a bit longer than some boots, they are beginning to be quite comfortable. Mine are actually not quite matched. The right boot is slightly darker than the left and the innersoles were very different - enough to have been from different production years. I replaced the innersoles with some slightly better ones and they have been great. In spite of the slight difference between the two, this is a great pair of boots. Old school, yes, but very serviceable. I'm sure the new 535s - TPS 535 - will be the same. The one difference you would notice is that the heel is more pronounced in the old style. If you find a pair of these new old versions, snatch them up. I paid $49.00 for mine. They listed for $159.00 four or five years ago. 1/3 the original price for a new pair from old stock that was never sold, not too shabby! Great boots."
