"I have had my 520's for about 6 months. The initial break in was easy but the boots remained stiff during trail break in. After owning several quality boots, including the disappointing Vasque, I can honestly say these are the best performing boots available. My fears regarding the Gortex 520 being hot for summer hiking proved to be unfounded during a week of 90 degree hiking in Arizona. The real proof for these boots was a week in Telluride averaging no less than 12 miles per day. Through cold streams, jagged rock, and snow the 520 took all conditions. I will die with these boots on!"

"Best boots I have owned. Break in was relatively painless and they are still as stiff as I like 'em. Survived 6 weeks in Colorado, 2 in super treacherous volcanic hills in Nevada, and soon to be tested for two and a half months on the Tibetan plateau. One piece leather is still in good shape considering how scuffed they have become, totally waterproof still. I love 'em."

"I bought my first pair 2 years ago for work and the soles survived a beating! I did landscaping and we were in mud, clay, water soaked trenches, never had any problems! I will forever buy these 520's, on 14 hour days my feet don't hurt and my back never aches!"

"I have had mine for 7 years and still love 'em. I will not buy another brand of boot. They are scuffed and scratched all to hell and have been through a lot of crap, yet still waterproof. Warm enough in the winter and cool enough for summer hiking. Also, the Vibram soles have not needed replacement, but you can resole these if the time comes. Buy a pair of 10 regulars today, if you don't like them give 'em to me!"

"I got these boots nearly five years ago and have worn them heavily. They've held up extremely well... aside from a few scuffs, they don't look as old and worn as they are. They provide excellent ankle support (I have weak ankles) and a good solidfoot base. I've worn them so much, but the Vibram soles are nearly worn flat... I'm about to get then resoled.

The break-in period was pretty rough for me though, at first I didn't think I was to be able to wear them because for the first two to three months they were very stiff and massively uncomfortable to wear. I almost returned them, but after suffering through foot pain and blisters for the first couple months, I've been rewarded with a sturdy and reliable pair of boots for several years."

"One of the few European made boots left on the market. This is the third pair of Asolos I've had and these are great! After the second year I put new footbeds in but that's it. They do get hot in the summer but pulling them off for a few minutes during rest breaks solves the problem. Great boots for the price."

"I have owned total of 6 pair of Asolo, 4 of which are the 520 Goretex. Hands down the best all around hiking boots made!
My reason for responding is to refer anyone who needs new soles to;
www.davepagecobbler.com who does the majority of Asolo's resoling work in the US. I recently had new soles on my oldest pair of 520's and the job was absolutely flawless! The cost $69."

"I\'m on my second pair of 520 Gortex--they are fabulous! I have a narrow foot, and of all the boots I\'ve ever tried on Asolo fit the best. My first pair died any early death (5 years of hiking all over the US) because the leather didn\'t hold up. Don\'t know why. However, because the fit was so darn good, I purchased another pair. Top leathers after 6 years of hiking are in near perfect condition and I\'m sending them off tomorrow to be resoled by DAve Page in Seattle. Hoping for the best and will miss my boots while they are gone. Best test of performance of the 520 was hiking in NH\'s White Mountains (Presidential Range) with a broken toe--never knew the difference because of the excellent fit!
Well worth the money."
