"OK, this isn't technically a sleeping pad, but read on. I've used various things for pillows, including folded clothes stuffed into a pillowcase (good for winter or very hot weather where you have extra clothes handy) and cheapo coated nylon inflatable pillows. The latter are fine as long as they last, but are kind of like resting your head on an inner tube and eventually they leak. I thought the sport seat was a really wimpy idea, but had such good luck with Thermarest pads that I bought the seat when it went on sale at REI. I inflate it moderately, fold it in half, secure it with a nylon strap, wrap a shirt around it and voila! a very level, comfortable, reliable pillow. At 6 oz, rather heavier than other options but really nice under some circumstances. Plus if I want to stop and survey the scenery for a while in a rather rocky place, it is really comfy. I wouldn't carry it for that alone (well, maybe for bird or animal watching) but as a combo pillow and seat, it's worthwhile."
