"great boots, excellent support. these boots are very similar to the ll bean cresta hikers and several aku models (as mentioned before). only thing i do not like is toe becomes scuffed pretty quickly and need leather wax/oil to darken back to color. insoles are also crap and need replaced, esp if you order a wide size (they will be too narrow)."

"very comortable and high quality boots. nice and stiff, although the stock inserts are useless, once you replace them these boots cannot be beat."

"I think these boots are make by AKU. I have a pair of AKU that I love and the picture in the Cabela's catalog look exactly like my boots - one thing though, Cabela's is half the price!! I would give them a five for moderate to difficult trail hiking. I live in the rockies and with these boots combined with a superfeet insole I am completely happy."

"I bought a pair of Cabela's all leather Mountain Hikers because none of the outfitters where I live carry wide (EE) sizes in stock. These boots are an excellant value at $140.00.
I carry about a 45lb. pack and weigh about 210. These boots were very comfortable on the trail and kept my feet dry until I had to ford a couple of swollen streams up to my knees and water came up through the cuffs of my pants and down the boots. As soon as I found a convenient spot, I took off my boots and poured out the water and wrung out my Thermax socks and Smartwool liners. By the time I made camp that evening, my feet were dry! So much for the myth that Goretex linings and waterproof leather boots will leave your feet looking and smelling like pickled tripe.
The only knock I have against these boots is that they are only suitable for smooth, well-maintained trails. On one trip, I spent a day and a half walking over rocks and my feet got to feeling a little bruised by the second night.
If you intend to stay on well-established and maintained trails, I can recommend these boots highly.
I have ordered a pair of Vasque Sojourn GTX boots for the rough stuff. Can't wait to try 'em out.
