"Dana Gleason is a genius. The Rib, which attaches to your
shoulder straps and buckles across your "ripped" midsection holds
a water bottle, camera, clif bar, cell phone or whatever usually
causes you to have to de-pack at the most dangerous/inconvenient
moment. It stays out of the way of your climbing harness for the
most part and adds so much functionality to your Dana Terraplane
or other (inferior) pack that the $35-40 price tag is not worthy of
a second thought."

"I have used a wet rib for 6 years or so and it is my favorite single piece of backpacking equipment! I keep shifting it from my daypack to my backpack and back again because I need it for every trip. I teach a navigation course and it is great for stashing your map and compas, yet having it available. I keep snacks and can anything else I want handy without having to take off my pack. It also functions as a good alternative to a sternum strap-without limiting your lung expansion. A classic!!!"

"I have used a Dana Designs Dry Rib for 7 years, all across the Southwest, and next to the Camelbak it is the most useful pack accessory available. I keep my compass, chapstick, pocket knife, trail snacks, GPS, mini flashlight, and a bandana in it. Absolutly essential for fast packing so that your snacks and tools are avialble without removing your pack. Super durable and ultra-convenient. Everyone should have one!!!"

"These "ribs" - actually pockets that attach to the front straps of a Dana backpack - solve the only criticism I ever had of Dana Design backpacks, that there's no place to put things you want to grab in a hurry, without removing your pack. A wet rib ought to be standard equipment and not an accessory! By the way, they work just as well on other brands of packs, including Dana's new line, the Mystery Ranch."
