"I have had this monster-pack for almost 4 years now and have used it hiking and mountaineering throughout the Swiss Alps, Vermont, New York and Yosemite, CA. This pack has such an effective suspension system that it takes the edge off of a 60+ pound load of gear. The struts provide much-needed torsional control over large loads, minimizing effects on balance... The pockets on this pack are extremely convenient allowing storage of those most needed items easily within reach. The slash side zippers allow easy access to the item that gets mistakenly sent into the cavernous depths of the main compartment. The retractable sleeping bag compartment is effective for storing oversize 4-season bags, tents or just lessening the volumn of the pack. Overall a superb pack geared toward 4-season mountaineering or extended trips where self-suffiency is the key. Plan on it lasting for years and years and years"

"I have used the pack for four years throughout the Western United States. It is a good pack, but it isn't all what everyone makes it out to be. Honestly, I haven't found the best pack out there. This pack is huge, so don't buy it unless you are going on expedition, or multiple week trips. The new Dana's are crap, find an old one. I have a small osprey, and that is a good pack also."
