"I've had this unit for years, the only problem was the battery life. This has been taken care of with a 5 led conversion now available by Petzl. I wish they would make a conversion {1or2 led bulb) for the "high beam" side for reading, maybe I'll make one. I also have the Zipka but is easy to get lost."

"This headlamp has proven itself to be confortable, bright and durable. I've used this lamp on many early morning treks and it has never failed to impress me. The halogen bulb casts a clean, white light well down the trail but drains a set of four AA batteries in about 3 nights. The krypton bulb is a good general purpose bulb for cooking and use inside the tent. Another great feature of this lamp is its durable construction. Just throw it in the pack and it always comes out working. The locking switch does a great job of keeping the lamp 'off' while in the pack to prevent accidental battery use. The higher cost of this lamp is well overshadowed by its stellar performance."
