"Good boots for carrying a heavy load on long trips or off-trail & non-technical mountaineering use. Expensive at $255 but extremely rugged and seems like they will last a long, long time.
Took me a while to tame the stiff leather uppers but comfortable now after break-in period. The "back of the heel" area gave me problems when they were new- nothing that some electrical tape and foam rubber couldn't fix though.
I like most of all the fact that they come in size 14 (which I wear) and 15 (for a Sasquatch maybe?) and the toe area is roomy, unlike the overly slim/tapered toe style of the "trend-conscious" boots that dominate the marketplace now.
These boots won't win any fashion contests but they should be fine for anything except hardcore ("plastic boots recommended") mountain climbing."
