Linda, 08/15/05 "The cost can't be beat. Hot water during sunshine, covered porch for relief from rain. Killer porch swing and dinner. Thanks PATC."
Leo Kern, 08/14/07 "Well i didnt actually stay in the shelter because i didnt have any money and i could not sleep in the little cabin because it was ocupied so the man there let me sleep on the porch. But just from that the service was great, he gave me directions, and a bowl of great watermellon. If i stayed in the shelter I would have Probly give it a 5."
Kiltwalker, 05/20/03 "Spent 4 days here from 4-24-03 to 4-28-03 . Great staff. Sarah and Bill keep thru hikers well fed with AYCE salad, spagetti, garlic bread, wine for those over 21 . Thru hiker hostel is free and has wonderfull stove in cold weather. solar shower on front lawn left something to be desired, but you can't have it all."
Dogpaw, 05/01/06 "Stopped at Lesser shelter, but was advised that this was just a few miles down the trail. Great stop. Free hiker hut with woodstove for cold nights. Lucked into dinner & breakfast with the ALDHA planners who were at the lodge. Long walk down to it, but lots of stone steps to make the going easier."
Annie, 01/06/07 "While I haven't visited the Blackburn Center, I did live next door to the Blackburn family in MD. They were avid AT hikers and took me on several short trips to introduce me to the Trail. From the accolades I see from those who have recorded their visits, it appears the Center includes all the personality of this family and all the amenities they wished they had in the early days of their Trail experience. Read the history of Fred and Ruth Blackburn at http://www.patc.net/resources/pa/pa11-00.pdf" Please feel free to add your own comments.
