"This will be a very odd review for these boots. You see, I don't hike. But I am very hard on boots. I thought I would buy these and just wear them at work. I am a manager at a larger terminal in the (place the name of a major shipping company here, and it aint brown) network. So, I am on my feet and walking 6-8 hours straight on cement, steel decking, and up and down ladders everyday. I used to buy Doc Marten industrials but they shifted their production to China, I did not want to experiment with that given that the prices did not go down - I digress. I went looking for a pair of old-school hiking boots that would put up with a lot of abuse.
I still have my Danner Go-Devils from when I was in the army. Because these have held up for 20 years (am I that old?), a few trips to the cobbler, and 2 retreads, Danner was an obvious choice. The Mountain Lights were NOT comfortable right out of the box; I needed to do some creative lacing to break in the tongue area. The tops of my feet hurt, bad. I had to go back to my old boots every other day for a while. After a couple of weeks they (or my feet) broke in. OK, let's go back to my fourth sentence, first paragraph. It is now false, I won't take them off; hell, I might even take a walk in the woods, (don't tell my go-devils!)

"I wore a pair of Danner Mountain Lights one week before our annual twenty five miler, big mistake right. Most people including myself would think so.I wore them for twenty five miles with no hot spots and no blists no problem.I would HIGHLY RECOMMAND Danner Mountain Lights to anyone who wants a comfortable boot."
"I'm on my third pair in twenty years. The one piece leather top and solid vibram soles make for a comfortable boot right out of the box. The only get better with use. I had one pair resoled by Danner. I recently tried every boot I could find and came back to Danners. Great boot!"
"I like these boots so much I've paid Danner to re-sole them at a cost equal to about two-thirds of what I paid for the entire boots new. Danner used to make a narrow version (don't know if still available), which I like because I have slender ankles. But top performance in every respect."
"I bought my first pair of Danner Mountain Lights in 1997 and I'm still wearing them. I'm either getting them fixed up by Danner or buying a new pair. Either way, I would NEVER EVER buy any other boot. I hiked with these from one end of the US to the other to Germany and they are still the most supportive, comfortable boot I've ever owned. Buy some garbage for $75 or $100 and you'll wear them for a year before they look like garbage and your feet are killing you. That's my story and I'm sticking to it!"
