Several major carriers have daily flights to Stewart. Car rentals are available there.   By Car Vanderbilt Mansion is in the Hudson River Valley in Dutchess County, New York. We are on Route 9 in Hyde Park, about 90 miles north of New York City and 70 miles south of Albany. Follow the link below for detailed driving directions.   By Public Transporation The Metro-North Commuter Railroad and Amtrak both stop in Poughkeepsie, about 5 miles south of the park. Taxi service from other points in the local area is also available. The Dutchess County Loop Bus System stops in Hyde Park several times daily; call (800) 924-8702 for information.   Getting Around Once arriving, all access is by walking. Bicycles are not permitted on trails.
