"We've used two First Need filters on our Boy Scout trips this past year, and have had no problems. In addition to the specs for elimination of giardia & viruses, we love the ease of use and simple cleaning/servicing. A great unit, pumps a full liter in well under a minute, and very dependable - even in the hands of 11 - 17 year olds."

"While on a three week village medical trip on the Rio Mamore (an
Amazon tributary) in the Bolivia jungle, twelve of us took one filter and pump for back-up. The river is used for human elimination and consumption and is turbid with sediment. Although we took 50-5 gallon water cans of chlorine treated water, we discovered the water had been treated with six times too much bleach, resulting in oral chemical burns in those consuming it. We found that by filtering the over-chlorinated water five times over, it became drinkable. This inexpensive filter may have saved our trip. We found the filtered river water quite drinkable, too. We recommend the prefilter. Keep in mind that this filter does not kill the Hepatitis virus, though."

"I have used this filter for about three years on many occasions and I love it. I have used several other brands that were very slow and hard to pump ; they don't compare. It's fast, light and reliable. I only wonder why it is not more popular."
