Swiss Gear 8 Man Tent Review

"My family is made up of avid campers. We bought this product believing in the Swiss Gear name. We took it out 10 times this year. During good weather it was a great tent, however during rain or wind watch out!! This tent leaked terribly and blew over. We pounded in the stakes and the tent acted as a sail and pulled out the stakes, there she went. This happened on 3 occasions.My old cheaper tent did much better.Buyer beware in bad weather.."

"My husband and I bought this tent on sale for under $100 two years ago. We have taken it on numerous Cub Scout camping trips since then and it has held up remarkably well. It's somewhat difficult to get it up, but once it is up, it won't budge even in driving wind and rain. We were camping in April last year when the weather in our area turned nasty and we were placed under a tornado warning. 8 other tents were either blown over, leaked heavily, or were simply shredded under the winds and the rain. The Swiss Gear tent came through with no leaks and didn't budge in the wind. The fly buckles onto the poles near the ground and has awnings for protection. The tent is well ventilated so no condensation problems and has a wet gear storage duffel built into it. The tent can also be divided in the interior. We ended up with 7 people crashing in our tent during the storm and still had plenty of room. I love this tent and won't camp again without it!"
