"I purchased the longbed in 1998 for a scout trip to Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico.
I spent 12 days in the back country with loads as high as 75 lbs. I was able to handle the loads with no problem. The fit of the lower harness and belt with its large pad in the lower back area let me handle the loads and the pack was always comfortable. I also chose the longbed over the shortbed because I like to keep all gear inside the pack and with the extra pack room you have over the shortbed, it allowed for extra room to keep all gear in the bag. Another reason I choose the longbed was because it was the closest fit in comfort compared to to the internal frame packs on the market. As a scout leader you never know when one of your scouts will need help with their load. With this pack being an external frame pack it allows one to tie more and more load on to the frame and this pack handled it very well. Happy Trails and remember to practice NO TRACE camping."

"Bought my Longbed a year ago and have logged many hard miles with my usual amount of too much stuff. I tend to carry the kitchen sink when I go, just because I like to eat real food and carry lots of camera stuff. Anyway, the suspension is incredible. Took a while to figure out the load adjusters at the bottom of the pack--the store personnel didn't give me a clue as to how to work them, but once I figured it out, it works like a charm. The best external frame pack I've ever used. Carries a ton of gear (too much, maybe) but very very comfortabel and bombproof as well."

"Bought mine about 4 years ago to carry the loads that a "sherpa dad" does. I usually carry about 45 pounds and it does it well. I can fit everything inside the pack...sleeping bag, tent, Therm-A-Rest 3/4 pad etc.I really love the suspension, particularly the load lifters on the waist belt!

I wish the pack were a bit lighter though."
