"I've been using the GoLite infinity for most of my current AT thru-hike.
I dropped about 5lbs from my pack weight when I switched to the GoLite.
The infinity's tag had the weight at a little over two pounds, but the scale in the outfitter showed about a pound and a half. That's one discrepancy I can certainly live with.
Unfortunately it ripped two days after my purchase. When the tear got more serious, I called GoLite and they replaced it for free.
I've had the new one for almost three months, and it only developed a rip yesterday. Hopefully it'll last until Springer, because I'm not sure how many packs they'll give me.
The hip straps and shoulder straps have minimal padding, and the waist straps have almost none at all, so I would suggest this pack only for those who will have a total pack weight under 30lbs.
There are two long pockets on the back that I use for easy snack access, and there's the obligatory top pocket, which has ample space.
The compression straps on the side aren't really compression straps. I wouldn't tug on these very hard else you may pull them off. Much of the stitching on the GoLite is this way. Instead I used the Compression straps to hold my Crocs.
In conclusion, The GoLite Infinity is a lite versatile pack. The light weight is due to thin, vulnerable material, so you have to baby it. But as I've learned, every time you drop weight, there is always a compromise of comfort, or convenience, or both.
Overall, I've been satisfied with the pack, however I don't see myself purchasing another Infinity in the future.
Perhaps there's a different GoLite pack that provides the same features and light weight, but with more of an eye on durability."
