Moderate climbs and scenic views of old growth forests whil hiking 100-200 ft above the lake shore at most points. A little disappointing that ther only time you come in contact with water is at the several creek crossings and on e large river crossing, we had to go off the trail to camp and to even touch the lake. Many bridges were washed out as was the trail in a couple places. It looked as if less than a dozen people had even been on the trail all year, and we went first week in July. The trail was not in great shape and we found ourselves very lucky to have started the trail on the west side of the lake instead of the east (which is where the trailhead is. The is a 16 mile loop so just start it from the swimming area heading away from the dam. Good Luck.
