Description
A real buttkicker but well worth every agonizing step. There are two ways to go,the scenic is shorter but steeper.aprox. 1000 ft. per mile. There are some excellent view points and at the right time of year, the meadows are full of wild flowers.Very colorful. At the top you can sit in the soft grass and have a bite to eat and enjoy the view of Mt.ST.Helens to the northwest,Mt.Defiance across the Columbia river and the breathtaking view of the Columbia river gorge. Also,Beacon rock which looked so tall at the bottom is now below you.Take the 3.7 mile route back down, its a little easier on the knees. It was a tough hike but we'll be back!!!!!!!!!!!

Directions to Hike
travel east on I84 aprox.40 miles east of portland.Take exit #44 and cross the bridge of the gods.Turn right onto SR14(east)and travel 12 miles between mile post 53 and 54.Look for the parking area on the left.
