This hike travels through the heart of the Mount Naomi Wilderness Area in the Cache National Forest. A short detour at the apex will net you an incredible view from the highest point in the Bear River Range of the Wasatch Mountains, Naomi Peak. Just under 10,000 feet, on a clear day you can see the Tetons to the North, the Uintahs to the southeast, and all the way to Nevada to the west. It's a moderately strenuous hike, with an elevation gain of approximately 3500 feet. Be prepared for the last two thirds of the trail to be a long downhill stretch. I did this hike in two days, with an overnight stay at High Creek Lake. The view down High Creek Canyon is one of the most beautiful alpine canyons I've seen, with a large creek and more than one stream crossing. Although this trail can be hiked either direction the way I've described it, the most elevation gain will be had hiking it from High Creek Trailhead to Tony Grove Lake. (Approx. 4800 ft.)
