This is a strenuous, but popular trail that reaches the summit of Mt. LeConte in the Great Smoky Mountains. The views are supposed to be great, but because it was raining the first day, we didn't get to see them. The second day it snowed and the scenery was incredible with the exception that we couldn't see more than a couple hundred yards due to the clouds and fog. This can be a very treacherous trail when wet, so there are cables to hold on to for stability. The trail passes under the Alum Cave bluffs, which were created during the Civil War. From this point onward, the trail becomes quite steep and rocky. However, it was very enjoyable overall.
