Foothills Trail
The Foothills Trail extends from Table Rock Park to Oconee State Park. My daughter and I hiked this trail in sections though many people have done it within a week's time. Even though the trail is located in the foothills and does not have any high elevations to speak of, there are parts where the elevation change can be challenging. The section from Laurel Valley to Bad Creek Access (which takes you up and around Lake Jocassee) must be done in its entirety because there are no parking accesses on this section. My daughter and I hiked 38.5 miles during a five day period in the spring of 1999. This trail is popular during the spring and summer months. If you are looking for solitude, hike it in the winter. There are many camping sites and water sources on this trail but no shelters as on the Appalachain Trail.
