Crazy rocky terrain. Don't bother wearing your good boots, they'll get ruined. No man-made footwear can compete with this stretch of trail, you might as well do it barefoot. To add insult to injury, pay CAREFUL attention to trail markers, as they are somtimes hard to find in the aimlessly winding trailway. Plus, you're hiking directly in the center of a popular state gameland. I've hiked in the plateaus, the srub land and mountains of the Southwest, but nothing tested my gear like this little stretch of the AT. The two great things about this hike are the panoramic views and the lack of biting insects. I live only 15 minutes from this spot and go there a few times a year. What an awesome hike!
