The park is situated in the far southwest corner of the state, about 5 miles from the West Virginia border. It is rarely crowded, yet has great facilities. The trail has a number of variations, I hiked the one from Tom Thwaites 50 hikes in Western PA. The hike starts out heading up the side of a hill to an intersection between two trails. If you continue on the Fox Feather Trail, you will go through a beautiful dark pine forest, which is only about 50 yards long but very dark even with the sun out. The trail continues up and down through the gorge, and comes down to a small creek. Cross a newly made culvert and follow the creek to the Iron Bridge Trail which then leads to the Pine Box Trail. Its a nice change of pace from hilly terrain to a long meadow and wildflowers that follows the creek. The Pine Box Trail loops back and you can follow your steps back to the trailhead of take another route back. With my two young sons, it took us about 4 hours moving at a snails pace, but there was lots to see so no one minded.
