The Minister Creek Trail is very beautiful. Its path winds along Minister Creek and is laced with millions of ferns in the summer. There is an abundance of wildlife to encounter, bear, deer, racoon, beaver and skunk to name a few. Birch trees are plentiful, and there are scattered Mountain Laurel. The nice thing about Minister is you can hike off the trail, just follow the creek, and likely get to your destination. The trail, at one point, follows near the North Country Trail. Water is plentiful and in season, small brooke trout from the creek can make a good meal. On the west side of the trail there is a beatiful outcropping that allows a spectacular view for hundreds of miles. Leaving the outcropping just a few hundred feet to the east is a large rock, split in half, that hikers can 'walk through.' Minister Creek is surely one of the most beautiful hikes and places in northwest Pa. Along Rt. 66, just before reaching the trailhead, there is a unique general store, Cougar Bob's Tavern and the Triple Fork dude ranch where horse-riding is available.
