this area is one of PA's secret hidden gems, a personal favorite offering unmatched scenery and refuge. miners run trail is a rugged, difficult and mostly unestablished trail. it ascends a steep glen with numerous waterfalls, massive boulders and cliffs-- incredible. you will eventually reach mcintyre road, which you can hike to band rock vista, also impressive. miners run flows into rock run, called PA's most beautiful stream. there are channels, flumes, chasms, potholes, pools carved into solid bedrock. overhanging ledges and cliffs complete the picture. there are three major pools w/ waterfalls, the water is so clear and cold it has an aquamarine hue. it was frigid swimming even in the middle of summer. there is no trail along rock run, must explore off trail. very difficult terrain. i feel guilty exposing this wonderful place, if you visit, please treat it with respect. please camp at designated areas, you can camp for free but must register with the state forest.
