Description
Saddle Mountain is the highest point on the north Oregon coast at 3,283 ft. From the summit on a clear day you have a view of Nehalem Bay, the Pacific Ocean, the Columbia River & some of the peaks in the Cascade Range.
The trail is pretty easy starting out in the forest, then opens out into meadowy hillside. Eventually your scrambling along rocky ledges. Wooden stairs & platform have been built in one section. The last part of the trail is steep but the view is worth it.
And even if the fog & clouds roll in (which happens so much of the time near the coast, it gives an almost surreal experience that is also worth the effort.

Directions to Hike
On Highway 26 the turnoff to Saddle Mountain State Park is just 8 mi east of the Necanicum Junction w Hwy 53. There is also a campground located at this State Park
