This is a great beginner level hike. Wonderful old growth forrests and amazing clear pools of water. Even a few crytal clear swimming holes. Very dog friendly trail. Most scenic if you take the trail over the bridge to the right that has a sign that reads "to opal pools". This narrow little trail is beautiful and takes you in behind Jawbone Flats, which will then continue back in the direction you came to make a nice little loop. Don't miss the mining shaft about half way in on the left or the little picnic area on the right about 2.5 miles in with picnic tables and old relics like an old shack, boiler, axles and other interesting items. Entire loop can be done at a leisurely pace in 4 hrs or so. Footing is excellent and not a lot of elevation change along the way.
