Greenleaf lake trail is approximately 18 miles in length. It crosses uneven terrain, with some fairly steep grades. The trail has two entrances: within Greenleaf State Park and at the south end of Greenleaf Dam. The trail is comprised of two sections: South Loop, which is approx. 8 miles long; and the North Loop, which is about 5 miles long. The South loop connects the South Dam parking area with the primitive camp at Mary’s Cove. The trail crosses federal property this is under the authority of the Oklahoma Military Department and its personnel who are stationed at Camp Gruber. Greenleaf Trail is part of the area used by the Military for training maneuvers, however, such training does not occur when the trail is open. The trail is marked with blue blazes. A cut off trail from the North Loop to Mary’s Cove is marked w/ white blazes. Go in the Winter or early Spring as ticks and mosquitoes are plentiful other times of the year. Also in the summer the trail is overgrown with ragweed. Chest high in some places. The Oklahoma City Hiking Club does their trail maintenance in February. You can expect to see, deer, turkey, quail, and wild pigs. Water is scarce on the high side of the loop, but the low side follows the lake shore. If you camp in the State Park cost is $6.00. Camping on the trail if free.
