Well, let's start by saying that the state park maps of these trails are HORRIBLE! There are apparently several, and they each have different markings and no distances. We had difficulty knowing beforehand just where the trailheads actually were, much less which trail was which. Because they are so poor, we didn't realize the Worldwalker Trail and the backpack trail were both parallel to each other for a bit, yet also quite distinct, so we walked out of what we THOUGHT was camp site #1 (which apparently we actually never found, nor did we ever see actual camp shelters) on the WW Trail which was absolutely HORRIBLE. Horse people have a lot to answer for in this park. This trail is a muddy, churned up mess. Do not even attempt it on foot. After 1 1/2 miles of swamp, and some exploration, we actually found the backpack trail and hiked it for a while, but never did find camp site #2, nor did we, after a bit, find anymore trail signs for it. So, we camped on a nice ridge overlooking the lake and were quite happy, even if it was an illegal camping site. This trail is good for new backpackers who have made a prior hiking trek to also know the trail - otherwise it is quite frustrating. Don't understand why the park office hasn't uploaded a decent trail map. Seems like it would be quite simple to do.
