I found this trail in the book "50 Hikes in the Adirindacks". It was rated as a 2 for difficulty but when I chose to attempt it in late January so it was cold with lot's of snow on the ground. The trail was rather difficult but fortunetly hikers had gone on before me so it was stomped down a bit. Otherwise, with fresh snow I would not attempt it. The trail rises 1100 feet in 0.7 miles so be prepared for some steep walking. Not much to look at on either side but trees and rocks and a small brook. When you get higher up the mountain the views of the Adirondacks become really great. Near the summit is an abandoned cabin that belonged to the Forestry Service. There is another 200 meter hike up about a 45 degree slope to the fire tower. The fire tower can be climbed and the views are well worth it.
