There are a variety of designated trails looping through the park. I was looking to make a big loop through the park. I took the Lower Paddock Trail east to just south of the Coal Vein on the first day. The trail was largely flat ground following the “canyon” through which Paddock Creek flows. The creek water had settled into the deeper pools and barely moved. There were a number of creek crossings but only one required me to remove my boots. The rest were a quick hop across. Wild horses, Bison and Elk are abundant in the park. The game trails crisscross the park and make excellent backcountry trails. Hiking trails are lightly used and overnight camping is allowed anywhere in the park. -No open fires an unreliable water sources.
