Our group actually hiked the Goldmine Loop Trail to the Whiteoak Branch Trail to Springhouse Branch Trail, and ended with the Nolan Creek Trail. Our total trip was about 18 miles. I am specifically reviewing the Springhouse Branch Trail, though. This trail lead straight up from Forney Creek to Forney Ridge for 5 miles (7 if you include downhill.) Unfortunately there were no break points in the steepness of this hike, and it was not backpacker friendly. Once we finished our excruciating climb, we hiked along the ridge for a while before heading back down. There was no view to trade for all the work we'd done! This hike was not worth our while. Everyone in my group was physically fit, and we struggled through with nothing to claim at the end but sore legs and empty cameras. In all this hike was a total disappointment.
