In the Rolling Hills of Mississipi North of Gulfport in Saucier lies the longest loop trail in the state. The trail is extremely well kept and very open. You start out from the Highway 49 entrance of Tuxachanie trail and go 5 miles to Lake Airey. Lake Airey is a great place to relax, or even camp out if you want a short hike in and out. Lake Airey has running water and great space, and good fishing as well. Lake Airey also has a bathroom. If you don't turn around here then you follow the trail for about 12 miles around part of a loop and find yourself at P.O.W. Lake where W.W.I Germans were taken for capture. There are some partial foundations to some buildings and some interesting history here. There is a great lake with good fish and a lot of space to camp out here. No running water here. Then follow the loop around until you get to Lake Airey and follow the trail out to highway 49 again. The trail is very easy to follow (white diamonds on trees). This is an easy to Moderate trail. Moderate only because of the length (like I said it is rolling hills, not mountains). I enjoyed this trail and will definitely go again. I would say this is one of the best in Mississippi.
