Description
From the trailhead there is 2 miles of maintained trail after that the rest is access roads or cross country. If your looking for solitude this is the place. This wilderness area is part of the Mark Twain National Forest and is not well known at all. Located in the St.Francis Mountains elevation ranges from 520 to 1350 feet. Scenic attractions include Rockpile Mtn., steep limestone bluffs, caves, shutins, The St. Francis River and a virgin forest located in a narrow gorge. There is no significant permanent water except the river.

Directions to Hike
From Fredericktown via highway 67 south to County Road C, then 10 miles on C to County Road 406. Follow 406 to Forest Road 2124. (The last 15 miles are dirt and rock roads and are not well marked. A map showing forest roads is advisable)
