Description
This is what backpacking is all about. The view is Great. There are several camp sites that are right on a ridge line with spectaular views. The people were very friendly and the area isnt overly used. We parked at the red bridge parking lot and started the hike on the Manistee river trail and headed north toward the suspended bridge. The view was so great, we decided to hike the manistee back the next day instead of going onto the North trail. Bring a filtration kit with you for there are no water except from streams and the Manistee river. If you get a topo from the Forest office in Baldwin (6 dollars) bewarned that it is a photo copy and its in black and white.........

Directions to Hike
From Grand Rapids, take US 37 into the Manistee Forest and go to SR 55 and head west. Keep going until you see Red bridge parking lot.
