This trail is a good adventure while also a sad indication of how badly we are in need of trail maintenance. Most bridges are either broken down and floating on the bogs, or are under water. Be prepared to get wet in these areas. Currently, there is logging occuring on the 2.5 mile connector which means the trail is cut into and blue blazes are not easy to spot. There is only the Mud Lake SFCG currently operating. Here, there are two vault toilets, hand pump, and excess to Mud Lake. There are 8 sites here. Pike Lake SFCG is no longer there. Because the trail is covered with branches, trees, and water, footing is difficult at times. Be careful. The bridges that were the worst ones were on the northwest side of the loop, at the connector trail for the CG.
