This trail starts in the Koomer Ridge Campground area and dead ends into Rough Trail about 2 1/2 miles in. Along this trail you have the opportunity to take a short(ish) 1 mile or so side trail to Hidden Arch (not spectacular) and this trail loops around to get you back on Koomer Ridge trail. Scenery on the Koomer Ridge trail isn't much, due to lots of forest along the entire trail. Lots of downed trees which have fallen across the trail, most of which have been cut, and this makes a nice place to sit and take a rest. This trail takes you on ups and downs but going in you are basically working your way down the ridge to where Koomer Ridge trail meets up with Rough Trail. About 1 mile into Koomer Ridge trail you have the option of taking Buck trail which also meets up with Rough trail, so if you were so inclined you could make a loop out of it and circle around. Be prepared on the Koomer Ridge trail for some rather steep downhills to get to the bottom of the ridge. At the bottom (about 2 1/2 miles) you'll find the Rough trail and a nice creek to replenish water supplies. This also is a pretty good place to setup camp as our party did on one overnighter. Coming out you have several options: you can come back the way you came (be prepared for some moderate uphills complete with switchbacks), you can also take the Rough trail either West or East, or you can use the Sheltowee Trace section to get you back to Route 715, which is about 1.3 miles north. Our trip ended about 3 miles in where we camped for the night. As I said before, the scenery isn't great, and you won't see any of the sandstone arches on Koomer Ridge trail unless you take the sidetrip to Hidden Arch.
