Description
The trail has very rough terrain with poorly marked trails. I made it 85miles to the half way point in about 7.5 days. A lot of trees are downed and it's easy to get turned around. Wilderness camping is about the only camping around. Actual camp grounds are scarce. I don't recommend doing any of this trail alone. I did it alone (unwisely). Cougars are present in the eastern half of the trail. I saw no snakes, but the spiders and ticks are pretty bad in the late summer.
If you like a challenge this trail provides it.
Horse riders use the trails extensively, which keeps the trails existant, but they tear up the trails in many places. Excellent views and scenery. Water is scarce as well, some creeks exist, but most are dry and the campgrounds being scarce make water hard to find. Water is extremely vital to hiking this trail.
