Trails are mostly flat but sandy and surrounded by live Oak and Palms. 2 Campsites have restrooms and firerings(Stafford and Sea Camp) but only Sea Camp has treated water. All other campsites have well water which must be boiled. You can also hike on the beach but can only cross the dunes at certain marked points. Lot's of wildlife armadillo, feral horses and boar, snakes, alligators, pelican, raccoons(of course), deer, loggerhead turtles, and many types of birds. There are also several ruins and old villages to hike to, Dungeness, Plum Orchard, and the old african settlement(where JFK Jr was married). What I enjoyed most about Cumberland was the fact that there were no paved roads, hardly ever a car to be seen except the ranger vehicles, and a modest amount of campers. Winter is a better time to go if your want to avoid ticks and mosquitos.
