We camped at Yankee Paradise for the first of our trip and then back at Stafford Beach (about 4 miles from base camp). The island is great, very beautiful and it is very diverse terrain from beach to swamp to fairly dense forest. The wildlife is very abundant also, racoons and lots of armadillos and wild horses. We were the only ones there when we stayed at Yankee and it was great, the only problem is that there is sulfer in the well for the campsite (it is also a little far from the sight) which really bothered me since water that smells like rotten eggs was a little hard for me to drink. The water at Stafford was normal though. Some reccomindations I would give would be take plenty of good bug spray and some rope to hang your food to get it away from all the animals and if you hate ticks stay away, they are pretty bad but once you get in the habit of checking it isn't that bad. I would highly reccomend it to anyone for it's great scenery and easy pack in (it is very flat). Feel free to e-mail me if you have any other questions.
