Nice hike from Amicalola State Park north of Dawsonville. My wife and I are below beginner, and this wasn't a bad hike. It begins with the AT approach trail and branches off around mile 2. The Len Foote Hike Inn was worth the walk and the price. You can continue on past and meet up with the approach trail, or go back the way you came. The weather was just right, so that at the three mile marker, you could look south and see the top of the Atlanta skyline, which we were told was rare. They also have about 20 miles of trails around the inn, so it might be worth a couple of nights and use the inn as a base camp.
