This is the absolute worst trail I've ever had the misfortune to be on. Nestled in the Point Washington State Forest in South Walton County near the town of Seaside, it purports to have been established for the "enjoyment" of bicyclists, hikers and nature lovers. In truth, it is a very desolate, unscenic hike that spends 50% of it's time on an unshaded forest service road before winding it's way finally to an unusable "lake" area (translate this into a picnic area overlooking an alligator/snake infested swamp that smelled of sulphur). The two rest stations that we encountered at 1 1/2 and 2 miles in were both located in full sun with no chance of shade at any time of the day. Although setting out early in the morning with a high temperature of 80 for the day, this made for an extremely long, hot hike with no rewards. It is my opinion that the $1 use fee at the trailhead is not worth the saga. I would definitely pass on this one. For those diehards out there, the trail system offers a 3, 5 or 10 mile loop, but beware of poor signage.
