This is a great hike for those who want to scale a tough mountain but who aren't experienced, technical climbers. The trail extends aobut 2.5 miles from the Cordova Pass trailhead through woodland and meadows- nothing too difficult or steep- up a few switchbacks to timberline. At timberline the trail ends and you're on your own to the summit. The steep, rocky path to the summit is laden with scree, but if you stick to the big ridge on the western slope you should minimize the difficulty. The view from the top is well worth the effort. It took four young guys about 3 hours from the trailhead to the summit, and about 2 hours down, rests included. A perfect day trip, but you can also camp right at the trailhead for a small fee for one night. PS- look for the plaque by the waterfall (which may be just a trickle depending on the time of year) at about 13,000 feet on the middle of the west slope across the big scree field from the main ridge.
