This is the highest peak in the western end of the San Gorgonio Wilderness. Start at the Forsee Creek trailhead near Jenks Lake off of Highway 38. In the first 6 miles the trail climbs 3800 ft, starting in a dense forest of pines, oaks & cedars, ending in a thinning forest of lodgepole pines. At 6 miles you reach the junction of the San Bernardino Peak ridgeline trail. Three camping areas (with water sources) exist along the uphill trail and make this a great overnight trip. At the junction turn west and travel to SAn Bernardino Pk, 2 miles farther and another 400 ft up. Great westerly views over the LA Basin. Another option is to turn east at the junction and explore the ridgeline between San Bernardino and San Gorgonio Peaks, with its 6 other summits.
