This is a great trip if you've got three or so days to hike. The trail is moderate, for the most part. Although, my group of three 20-somethingers had trouble in some of the steeper spots near Buena Vista. But it was all worth it. Panoramic views of the distant Yosemite Valley as well as the west part of the park at sunset. Buena Vista Lake is clear and cool and acts as a reflecting pool for the slivered granite heights of Buena Vista Peak. Trail ultimately winds back around through mono meadow and a short walk back to the Ostrander Lake trailhead. Ostrander Lake, incidentally, was not a stop on this loop. Making it a stop adds about 8 miles to your total journey. All in all, a great trip with few people and no bears (thanks, in part, to bear rented bear cans) in Yosemite National Park.
